South Boundary Singers is inspired by the King’s Singers, Chanticleer, the Whiffenpoofs, a cappella groups like “Straight No Chaser” and “Cantus”, the “US Army Chorus”, and the “Cornell Glee Club”. Our musical program ranges from the Renaissance to the contemporary, from sacred to secular, two to eight voice parts and we even occasionally feature a guitar, flute, two trombones, piano, a full-sized jazz band, large SATB choruses, and even a symphony orchestra.
South Boundary is a male ensemble that was formed in 2007 under the direction of the late Bill Riehl. We were an a cappella group during the early years but now perform with piano accompaniment. Past performances include the Hopelands Gardens Summer Concert Series, Aiken's 175th anniversary celebration, opening day at the Augusta Greenjackets game, Aiken Steeplechase, several joint events at the Aiken Center for the Arts featuring collaborations with the Aiken Singers and Harmony River Chorus, and a concert at the historic St. Catharine College in Kentucky. South Boundary also headlined the fourth season of the Aiken Jazz Society's annual festival. Many local churches have graciously hosted South Boundary concerts, along with Banksia, the Aiken County Historical Museum. A small group of singers also traveled to Scotland, offering impromptu concerts in small churches, large cathedrals, and a few local pubs along the way.
