We will be doing our annual fund-raiser concert to support our endowed scholarship at USC-Aiken. Each year an aspiring music student is awarded a $1000 scholarship. All money collected at this concert will be directly applied to the scholarship fund. Here’s a poster with the details.
We are happy to announce that our search for a new Artistic Director is complete. Ms. Keely Rhodes has been chosen to be our new leader. Keely is a mezzo-soprano who received a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Texas in Austin. In academia, Dr. Rhodes has served as a director of choirs, head of vocal studies, and an assistant professor of music. She has also had the honor of serving as a Fulbright scholar to Italy in 2006-2007. She joined USC-Aiken as an Assistant Professor of Music in 2019. Keely also teaches private voice lessons, performs as a soloist and collaborative artist for choral, chamber, and symphonic groups and as an opera singer in the United States, Europe, Central America, and South America.
Saturday, April 22 we held our first full-fledged concert under our new music director, Diane Haslam. Here’s a copy of the program South Boundary Singers April program and a recording of the full concert. The young ladies ensemble, Belles Canto, is another of Diane’s ensembles and they joined us for a couple numbers from Randall Thompson’s Frostiana.
Please use the Contact Us form found on this website if you would like more information about the Boys Choirs of Aiken County (BCAC) organization.
Auditions for the 2017 – 2018 season will be held at Aiken’s First Baptist Church on September 5 (Tuesday) and September 12 (Tuesday)
The audition is very informal – we want to know if the boy can sing a song of his choice and carry a tune.
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday September 8 and be held each Tuesday in the choir room at Aiken’s First Baptist from 4:00 to 5:30.
Requirements for membership in Bound to Sing are as follows: Unchanged voices, able to carry a tune, a passion for singing, availability for and ability to attend regular rehearsals.
May will see us preparing for a performance tour to Italy! Several of us will join with the Masterworks Chorale to sing in Florence, Orvieto, Perugia, and Rome, including St. Peter’s Basilica!
