We are happy to announce that our search for a new Artistic Director is complete. Ms. Keely Rhodes has been chosen to be our new leader. Keely is a mezzo-soprano who received a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Texas in Austin. In academia, Dr. Rhodes has served as a director of choirs, head of vocal studies, and an assistant professor of music. She has also had the honor of serving as a Fulbright scholar to Italy in 2006-2007. She joined USC-Aiken as an Assistant Professor of Music in 2019. Keely also teaches private voice lessons, performs as a soloist and collaborative artist for choral, chamber, and symphonic groups and as an opera singer in the United States, Europe, Central America, and South America.

It is with mixed emotions that we said goodbye to our leader, our inspiration, Diane Haslam, back in October 2020. She decided to return to her homeland in England to be near her mum and family. We wish her only the best as she begins the next phase in her storied life.
The COVID-19 situation left us playing a wait and see game before seeking her replacement. That time has now come. We have formed a Search Committee to seek qualified candidates to take over as our Artistic Director. It is our intent to compile a list of interested candidates, complete an interview process narrowing down the number of potential candidates to three, and then have a series of rehearsals with each one so that the candidate will get a feel for us as well as us doing the same with him/her. Final selection will be made by a vote taken of the singers. In the case of a tie the Board will decide the winner.
If things go as planned, with our director search and the COVID-19 menace, we may be ready to resume limited singing again in the Fall. We anticipate resuming normal rehearsals and performances by Spring, 2022. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Here’s a link to an article from the Aiken Standard, our hometown newspaper, announcing our fund raising concert. We have an endowed scholarship at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Each year a $1000 grant is awarded to an aspiring music student. We’re always ready to accept donations to this worthy cause.

Our Board discussed, and agreed to change, our “South Boundary” name. We will now be known as the “South Boundary Singers”. The main motivation for doing so is to better reflect what we are all about – singing. Nothing else has changed – we are still a fun-loving group that enjoys singing together. We will continue to support our community’s boys choirs and the scholarship program we established at USC Aiken.
Our internet presence is also changing. Instead of southboundary.com we are now southboundarysingers.org. Please update your records as needed.

Welcome to the home of the South Boundary Singers. We are a male, mostly a cappella ensemble that performs in Aiken, SC and around the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area). We have been singing for our whole lives and have taken it as our task to help develop a culture of singing in our town. Take a look around our website and learn about us and our service to the community.
Want to sing with us? South Boundary Singers is always looking for talented singers. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7 pm – 9 pm in the choir room at Aiken’s Trinity United Methodist Church. Please use the Contact Us form to arrange an audition or to get in touch with us.
